Default '40 coupe - start - up

when i try to start engine.......after cranking a couple of turns.......engine bucks
hard and stops but is ready to try again.

I thing engine is too far advanced. which direction of the adjustment is retard and advance?

The points plate needs to be rotated anti clockwise, as viewed from the front of the motor. If a divers helmet type dizzy, the adjuster needs to be moved down. If a crab type, the adjuster needs to be moved up.

Might throw in that the points need to be set correctly as well.

Never hurts to confirm firing order, too.

Left side cap...right side cap. Those little numbers dance around and can screw up anybody!
