I'd run the nicest grill you have at this time, and keep an eye
out for a NOS or very nice original for the future. just my 2 cents. .

Re: I feel guilty !! Roaster ford 37
There were several original '37 grilles at Hershey earlier this month including an early standard take off that was a perfect candidate for plating as it had absolutely no pits on the grille bars.
Keep looking. |

Run a wanted ad here on the barn , a nice original will be out there somewhere. I'd still use the reproduction grill till you find one.

I agree, you could always sell the repro later.

Re: I feel guilty !! Roaster ford 37
There has been quite a few original 1937 Ford grilles for sale this past year. A real nice one was on the Early V8 site with all the stainless trim. I thought I had it bought for asking price but seller got greedy and claimed he had to reneg and sell it for twice as much to someone "local" I ended up getting a NOS one this past summer on or I should say "off" Ebay. Really have been quite a few on Ebay, some go high and not so nice used and some not so high and really nice ones. I don't know if NOS ones were chrome plated or not, most I have seen are NOS standard primered ones. To me worth waiting and looking for a Genuine Ford one. I saw a real nice yellow woody wagon at Hiawassee meet with a terrible grille that stuck out like a sore thumb and a local restored 37 cabriolet with a foreign grill, terrible looking and obvious not correct.

Re: I feel guilty !! Roaster ford 37
Another consideration is the serious difficulty of installing a '37 grille without also removing the fenders and fender aprons as part of the process, let alone removing one and starting over with another. I doubt if any other year's grille comes close to limiting the access to the grille-to-fender fasteners. It is job best suited to someone with 3 long thin arms and fingers that can see.
