Default 1940 Mercury Radio

I am installing a Zenith radio in a 1940 Mercury Town Sedan. Was a radio a factory option or dealer installed? The speaker faces the dash trim. Is there a trim piece with openings or just the solid trim? Thanks!

Typically installed at the dealer level. However, they were installed at the factory as well.

Not certain if the faceplate is any longer available. They were reproduced at one time.
