Balancing a flywheel at home. Plus Oil Pan Bashing.
In a previous video I took an English Flathead flywheel and redrilled it to accept a 10" clutch. It also needed skimming slightly. In this video I show the flywheel being balanced and the oil pan being modified to fit a French flathead block.

Hey Mart, something I believe I noticed in how you drilled the flywheel for the new clutch pattern. It appears you have threads all the way to the surface of the flywheel. I believe that if you look closely at the original holes and bolts, you'll see that the bolts are what I call "shoulder bolts" - they have a larger diameter shoulder that is designed to go down into the flywheel. Checkout the original holes and bolts - you may want to review your new holes as compared to the old.
Let me know if I am correct (as I'm away from home and cannot look at any of my parts!). Best of luck, Dale |

You are correct, the holes are counterbored. I did the counterbore before I tapped them. The tapping left a witness mark in the counterbore which might be what you can see. Thanks for looking over my shoulder and looking out for me.

Couldn't you have taped a couple of nuts at the top (light side) and come up with a weight. Then, you could have calculated hole size to equal the weight that it took at the top to balance?
