Talking Throttle lever does not click ??

My throttle lever pulls down smoothly on one of my A's. I prefer to be able to set at a notch level. Is there something wore out ( do the notches wear out ) or is something out of adjustment ?

Yes, the notches wear smooth. Probably the spark is worn more than the gas lever. A lot of folks file the notches back in. Might also be the springs on your control levers are a little weak a not pulling down to put pressure on the levers.
Hope this helps.

Run your fingernails down over the notches. If they do not have pronounced (sharp) ridges, look to see if mabe TOO much paint. They may just be worn down also or a combination of wear and too much paint. A small quality three cornered file easily restores the shape of the notches. Easy on the paint !

Taking advice from others on the board I redid my quadrants.

I used a chisel to clean up the notches. This is nice as you do not loose material and you push material up a little too.

Weld the bottoms of the rods round like original. I was skeptical this would work, but it really does the job. I mention this because some people have done some complicated "fixes" to get good clicks.

The chisel fix can probably be done on the car. You will need a heavy flat metal to back the quad. The rounding of the rods will be lots of work and cost some money to plate.

I would not worry about fixing the rods until you are ready to rebuild the whole steering assembly as it will all need to be taken off the vehicle and taken apart to do it right. Until then you might have to just live with the smooth action.
