Another new guy!
Hello, I just signed on today. I'm a new 29 coupe owner.
Although I built a few 30s-40s trucks, this is my first model A. Hopefully you guys won't mind a few dumb questions occasionally, as I suckle the teat of knowledge. Here's a couple pics of my new project. At one time someone cut out the rumble seat and made it a truck. I will bring it back to original, but probably with a trunk. Should be a real challenge...looking forward to it. |

Re: Another new guy!
Since you are from Wisconsin, start planning now to attend Annual Model A Day in Sharon, WI on the first Sunday in June. You will see ~ 250-300 Model A's from all over the area. Meet lots of Model A people with their before and after stories. Parts vendors with the parts you are looking for at good prices. You will alway have a great time at this annual event. Also the two National Clubs are having their annual National meets close by this Summer. Good timing for you to meet lots of Model A folks and lots of different Model A's.

Re: Another new guy!
welcome. Sears and others sold a pickuo box for the coupe. Remove the trunk lid and cut the sheet metal below the trunk lid and insert the wooden bow and walaaa you have a pickup. My uncle did that with his 36 coupe.

Re: Another new guy!
Keep updating us with photos of your progress. I also support your choice of a trunk. Our coupe has a rumble and it's practically usless.

Re: Another new guy!
Welcome. you will find the Ford Barn vary useful. There are many out there with great wisdom of model A's. Out there is also someone to know something, no matter what the question may be. The only dumb question is the question that is never asked. Hope to see you out here for many of years to come.

Re: Another new guy!
welcome and good morning! your choice of a trunk over a rumble is wise. but think about this: if you can find a decent Model A pickup bed and fit it in the opening, you'd have an interestingly uncommon finished product..............

Re: Another new guy!
Pick up a copy of 'Model A Restoration Guidelines & Judging Standards'. These are valuable, even if you're not building a points car. Just good information. The 'Touring Class Judging Standards' are also somewhat valuable, as they offer a bird-eye view of the RG&JS for non-points cars. If nothing else, you can read up when the weather's too cold to work in the garage.
Welcome!!!

Re: Another new guy!
@ RetroJeffro -
Welcome... I'm relatively new here too. Brought home our '31 Roadster just before Christmas... I've posted several 'dumb' questions - got answers to most... Where in WI? I'm in Woodstock - just south of the curtain... @ Great Lakes Greg - Where did you get your flag holder in your avatar? My wife found something that holds five flags, but it's not made for the radiator - designed for the center bumper clamp... She was really looking for what you have. Thanks. (See RetroJeffro, questions get sparked from all sorts of sources...)

Re: Another new guy!
RetroJeffro, welcome to the addiction. If you are going to want a coupe then go for the trunk over the rumbleseat option-much more practical I think. BUT, if you want something unique I think the PU bed would be really neat to see. I saw one for sale on the barn that the owner did a really nice job converting. Either way I think you will enjoy the car.
