Rescued Another One Today
Today Leathernek and I rescued a chassis. He's needing a frame and we found this one ten minutes from my house. A friend of mine has had this for 60 years, he agreed to sell, and the price was right. He loaded Leathernek's truck with a bunch of other parts including fenders, 4 wheels and some nice tires. I was lucky enough to get a couple of wheels and tires also. Overall it was a good way to kill a Saturday morning.

Those are really nice pictures. There is a story in each frame. Thank you for them.

Check out those Garfield Tires, they look like new. They should at least be on the same axle. Why don't Coker or someone them back. Mine wear like iron. Good luck!

Now that there looks like a whole lotta fun.
The group of photos would make an AWESOME calender. ...oops you'll just have to add a few more closeups of the haul. Last edited by Craig Lewis; 11-26-2011 at 09:37 PM. |

Here are the rest of the pics from today. The owner told us about running all over the county, when he was young, in this car. Tim |

I am glad I am not the only one that takes time to salvage things. Great fun at times, big headaches other times. Rod

The fun was today. I think the headaches are in the future for Leathernek.
Hey, I just noticed that this is my 50th post! I guess I'm no longer a lurker. |

Good save. I have found that the most fun is in the retrieval itself. Yarding something out of a hidden ravine (or in Hillbilly Tims case an obscure shed) with two or three friends whether it is yours or theirs-------nothing more fun.

Re: Rescued Another One Today
Interesting to see the front running board brackets forged and the rear ones stamped. Both sides are the same.

Nice find. I love the feeling of finding cars and parts that have been stashed away for years.

Re: Rescued Another One Today
Brent, I pumped up the first one and then had a flashback to when I had one like this blow up in my face. I found something else to do when the next one needed filling.
