This goes where??
I'm swapping engine/trans. in my 29 coupe and ran across this in a box of "junk" given me. It fits exacially over the outer u-joint cover with threads and looks like it anchors to the cross member (no frame holes matching but mine is a 29).
Never been used but looks like a repro. Is this a support for the front of the torque tube like the old hook in the early u joint covers? I don't know. Any help or advice would be appreciated as always, Pete what is it 006.jpg what is it 007.jpg what is it 008.jpg |

Re: This goes where??
It is part of the Float-a-motor kit, that fits over the universal cover, with the ear of the cast piece facing to the rear over the cross member ledge.

Re: This goes where??
It is the rear part of a Float-a-Motor kit .There was a rubber pad that fit between the upper bracket & crossmember.Personally,I prefer the original mount setup.

Re: This goes where??
Mine had a rectangular rubber bumper that went between that part and the crossmember. I've heard that some folks don't install your part, as they feel there is no need for it??---Bill W.

I've got std. mounts so I guess I'll use it for a boat anchor. I heard the "hook" on the older u joint setups were just for holding it during assembly anyway. Thanks a lot.....question answered! Pete |

Re: This goes where??
There might be someone out there with FOM fronts that needs the rear piece. I remember times in the past when someone was looking for that part.

How much you want for the mount? I have a set of the fronts but need the back

Re: This goes where??
It was missing from my coupe and it sure made a difference after I installed it.

Re: This goes where??
As Tincup says ...the use of this part makes a difference! Those that badmouth FAM setup....by saying that the engine, etc moves/rocks back/forth...obviously do not know what this part is/does !
By now, tho, you've been told that an important part (rubber block/plate that holds block in place) is missing (?). BTW..I have this setup and when properly installed, my engine does NOT move fore/aft ! Last edited by hardtimes; 01-10-2012 at 04:05 PM. Reason: add.... |
