Re: fan replacement
Depends on what you have now. 54 239 Yblocks had a 3 blade fan, where the 55 & up used a 4 blade. If you go to a salvage yard with a tape measure, there should be something that will fit. A shroud makes a huge difference also. BTW the fan belt is tight enough, right??

Re: fan replacement
You might want to flush out your radiator too . If it still doesn't correct the problem take to a radiator shop to have a flow test on the cooling system . If you have the original radiator that might be the problem .
Vinegar and water works good to clean the cooling system out . Just putting on a electric fan is just covering up the problem . It was fine before wasn't it ? Jim |

Re: fan replacement
If you want to go with a 5 blade fan, the TBird parts suppliers have them. I would make sure that the system is clean first. Get the fan as close to the radiator as possible (leave at least one inch clearance). A shroud should also help.

Re: fan replacement
Try a compression test to see if you have a head gasket starting to leak into the water. On some 55-56 Fords they had an air dam that ran on top of cowl support up to the hood that has a rubber seal to touch the hood. This forced all the air to go through the radiator instead of over the top.

Re: fan replacement
For several years I ran a seven bladed fan from a Fairmont six with air. It worked great. You may also measure to see if there is room for a clutch fan. Almost all Fords had the same bolt pattern from the mid 50's to the mid 90's or later.
