'57 Ranchero
Need a little help, my knowledge of the '57 Rancheros is limited. I've got the following questions. Could one be ordered at the Fairlane trim level? One source said they were Custom level only. We owned one back in the 70's it was so basic, my memory doesn't bring back any side trim at all, radio delete, six cyl stick. The vin tag on the one we just traded for doesn't have a number for the trans or rear gears. It has what I suspect is a special order # 710739. What say you?

Re: '57 Ranchero
You were correct about 71 being the L.A. CA code. If there isn't ever going to be a way to tell what was special ordered, I'm going to start the rumor it was ordered with an experimental FE. It'll make my plans easier to live with!

Do whatever you like, after all it is your vehicle.

Re: '57 Ranchero
The ranchero was either a custom or custom 300,and the the latter could be ordered with the gold trim, but seldom were for some reason where as other custom 300s usually had the gold trim.

Re: '57 Ranchero
The 300 was a shorter wheelbase, and for the most part a cheaper line. Some exceptions were the Country Squire and maybe the Del Rio and the Country Sedan.
