Compressed head gasket thickness, for the record
I'm working up the instructions for calculating piston-to-head clearance, and I was unable to find a record of the thickness of common head gaskets, either here or on fordgarage.com. I wrote to Best about the gasket I'm using and they wrote back, so I thought I would start a thread and maybe folks can add information if they have it.
Per Best Gasket, the compressed thickness of the 509G (GraphTite) gasket is .054" +/-.002. |

Re: Compressed head gasket thickness, for the record
I've found copper clad gaskets to run as high as .070 crushed.

It varies depending on the brand and material. One site I checked said 16.877cc's @ .050" and 20.253 @ .060, another 17.474, I use 20cc and figure that is close enough.
