Default 8BA carb leaking

1949 v8 with 8BA Ford Carb
Newbie question:
Fuel is leaking out of the two large brass screws on the bowl.
They are tightened all the way in and still leaking.
Help!

Yes, new gaskets and a little non-hardening Permatex

They each have an orange gasket.
Are they supposed to be tightened all the way down, or do they provide some sort of adjustment for the carb?

They don't provide any adjustment for the carb.
If you unscrew one completely you will see they are used to drain the fuel bowl and provide an opening thru which a screwdriver can pass to unscrew the jets.

Sorry for the double post.

They don't provide any adjustment for the carb.
If you unscrew one completely you will see they are used to drain the fuel bowl and provide an opening thru which a screwdriver can pass to unscrew the jets. Watch this video and it shows their function at 19.02.

What Jack says....I make my own gaskets from delrin. PM me your address and I'll send
you some. Vinyl, most nylons and delrin conform to a certain degree where the red
are somewhat hard and do not have much of a tendency to conform.

Absolutely the ONLY way to go with those seals. I have a brand new 94 carburetor and they would weep, regardless of the torque applied to those
jet access screws. Put nylon at that location, end of problem..........
