Re: 39 ford
Most likely the regulator is worn out and / or has broken teeth. VERY typical issue.

Re: 39 ford
I can't find my photo, been looking since yesterday. On my 39 pu I had the same problem, the knob turned a little but would then jam. The cast gear was bent slightly between the teeth, 2nd and 3rd from closed if I recall, very near fully closed in any case. I used a dremel and about a 1/16" rotary file to provide a little clearance between the football shaped teeth and it now works great. I had to take the regulator apart for access. When I rebent the tabs that hold it together a couple broke off as expected so I tacked them with my mig. I had considered trying to straighten the gear but thought it too likely I'd break the gear and there is more disassembly required. If I can find the photo I'll post it.
This thread has a copy of the photo of my regulator, funny that I can't find it anywhere else... https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showth...73#post1351373 |

Re: 39 ford
I have the same problem with my 39 pickup. How did you get to the regulator if the window wouldn't open? Those screws are really buried.

Re: 39 ford
There is a guy on ebay that casts new gears from aluminum he goes by chevi-shop he is from Milledgeville, IL I believe. He currently does not have any listed. I bought several from him and would be willing to help some one out if they need one.
