A friend of mine is looking to buy a Mail Truck

He send this picture of the engine number on the block

Could this be a legitimate Mail Truck number.

It is obvious the the original number has been removed and a new one put on it. The surface of the number boss should be rough cast just like the rest of the block. I have never seen a Ford number with US in it.

If it truly is a mail truck, it likely went through several engines in its lifetime.
