Head Light Bar differences
Can someone please clarify for me if the head light bars for Model A's are all the same size or are there differences between the 28-29 models and the 30-31 years. Thanks for any help.

Re: Head Light Bar differences
1928 & '29 have the same bar that does not fit the 1930-'31 vehicles. Early 1930 vehicles have a unique bar that has a channel cross section shape that was superseded in 1930 & '31 with a tubular bar.

Re: Head Light Bar differences
The '28-29 is flatter. The '30-31 is curved.

The 1928-1929 headlamp mounting bar is tubular and FLAT between the two headlamps. The 1930-1931 headlamp mounting bars have an arch between the two headlamps. The pressed steel bar with slots for mounting the license plate was introduced in May 1930 and discontinued in September 1930 when it reverted back to the tubular style. All three styles of headlamp mounting bars are forgings from the fender up to the lamp mounts. There is a description and photo of the headlamp mounting bars on pages 18-2 and 18-3 of the "Model A Restoration Guidelines & Judging Standards", which is available from MARC and MAFCA and most major Model A parts suppliers. I had an August 1930 CCPU that had a tubular bar. Course it might have been changed at sometime, but the truck still had the painted headlights rather than the usual stainless "upgrade." Ford tended to use up superseded parts on trucks, so that could have been the case with mine. |

Re: Head Light Bar differences
I have had this headlight bar information for a while, not sure were it came from.

Re: Head Light Bar differences
I added to my previous post, photos of the pages in the "Restoration Guidelines" that describe the headlamp bars.
