Default 1909 Model T Ford Touring Car #7299, Three Owners from New, Super Original Car

City: Detroit
State: MI
Price: SOLD

This 1909 Model T Ford Touring Car, Engine Number 7299, was discovered and purchased in 1948 by George Antinarella of West Boyleston, MA, for the princely sum of 300.00. Antinarerlla was an active member of the AACA and VMCCA during the early years of the hobby. He purchased the car from what we believe to be the original owner. When the car was discovered, it was an excellent original and complete car. Antinarella serviced the car and painted it dark red with black fenders and toured with the car all over the northeast and Canada during the formative years of the collector car hobby. The dashboard is covered with Glidden tour plaques. Number 7299 is listed in all of th AACA and VMCCA rosters and pictured frequently in the early club magazines. The car was kept by Antineralla and had been carefully hidden long after his death until 2002 when it was discovered by a New England dealer who sold it to the current owner. The current owner has driven the car a bit, but mainly kept it on display in a climate controlled buidling. Of course, this car is complete with all of its rare components: open valve engine, one piece pan, square hole transmission cover, proper steering column, front end with one piece spindles, etc. At some point during the 1950s, the original rear end was replaced with a later Model T rear end, but the original clamshell rear end is includes with its correct driveshaft and radius rods. The body on this car is all orginal and extremely tight and solid. The doors fit well, its doesn't shake or flex, there is no evidence of rot, damage or repair. The original interior including the seats, door panels, etc is extremely well preserved for being 105 years old and I believe the front floor mat to be original. The car has a complete and matching set of Jno.Brown lights, carbide generator, bulb horn, windshield, etc. We have the original top assembly as well as a new set of irons. The car has been driven and seems to run well. The engine is super quiet, the transmission is also quiet and shifts smoothly, the rear end is quiet and the front end and steering are nice and tight with no play. This car really should be serviced and toured as-is. It is far to nice to consider restoring. There are very few original 1909 Model Ts in existance that still retain their original drivetrain and body. This is a great car with a great history. It just has the right and magical look of a freshly discovered brass car. A very rare opportunity to own a proper, early Ford. Included with this car is a thick folder with receipts from the 1948 purchase, photos when it was first discovered by Antineralla, early tour photos, etc, etc. The price is SOLD and the car is located in Ann Arbor, MI.
