Default Accelerator retrn spring install ('38)?

Can someone tell me how to remove my broken accelerator return spring and install the new one? I could cut the original on off, but cannot get the new one on.

Thanks,
Earl

As I recall, I think it must be twisted to expand the coil while threading it thru the ballend and bends.

Used a cut off wheel to remove the broken spring, and with some finagling and patience I was able to bend it around each corner. Installed... no more stuck throttle!!! Thanks guys
