Default door lock question

I have been wanting to restore the door lock stainless bezel key cover for my 48 coupe, it dangles around, I want to remove the bezel so I can swage the rivet to remove some of looseness, is it possible to remove the bezel without damage. I could buy a new lock but I want to keep what I have, any suggestions would help.

The entire lock mechanism is removed by removing the small lock screw inside the slot inside the edge of the door. Then you can remove the bezel and fix the flap.

You would be very lucky if you are able to remove the bezel W/O damage. Best bet would be to locate another bezel first and then try to remove the old one W/O any damage. I have never been able to get one off W/O damage. But you might check with a lock smith I guess it's possible they have a tool to do it.

If it is an original Hurd cylinder (plated rather than pot metal), the bezel and cover can be removed without too much effort. I usually replace them rather than repair them as they are readily available from a donor cylinder. I assume yours is the tear-drop shaped dust cover.
