Bumpers
Need some info on bumpers from Bumper Boyz from California. Are they rechromed originals or repops? What's your experience good or bad? Or can you steer me a different direction. Thanks.

Re: Bumpers
36 we found a pair of original '39 bumpers do you think we should just take them to a good shop to rechrome and be done with it? Your opinion?

Re: Bumpers
It took Bumper Boyz 2 attempts to get the front bumper properly chromed on my truck. It might cost a few bucks more to get a local shop chrome the NOS bumpers you have, but in the long run I think you'll be money ahead.

Re: Bumpers
that would be my choice. they are all expensive but at least if you get a local shop they will be a lot easy-er to deal with

Re: Bumpers
Bumper Boyz has there parts re-chromed in Mexico and the quality of the polishing varies considerably. Look for a local plater and have them do it. When you can meet face to face with the man doing the work, you can better explain the quality that you want.
Check with the local street rodders and motorcycle enthusiasts for referances.

Re: Bumpers
I like to sandblast the back of bumpers and guards that I send out. Usually the backside has rust on it and even quality shops don't blast it off and as the rust continues it will creep around to the good side under your new chrome.

Re: Bumpers
TOM: I assume you found the answer to the "Bumper Boys" question ? .. Have you considered the Stainless Bob Drake's. bumper ? I look at something I can fix. like if it gets bent or broke. it can be welded, and polished, by me... big "if" I do it right you will never know ?? the chrome bumper will need to go the shops ( one or two ) shops. ?? Drake bumper ain't cheep, what is the cost of chrome ?? and what's the, up-keep, for both...I like stainless, I have both bumper and brace in stainless for my 39 deluxe. "Drakes" the rear braces will be chrome and the bumper stainless, yet to buy that one ?? ..OLD...BILL
