Thank you Shew. I never realized that there were so many exhaust type heaters. I had a cast aluminum one many years ago. I don't remember the brand but it was available from the vendors and common. Clamp on style.

Loaded fine for me, thanks for the link ! I have a flat top Otwell that blocks the distributor hold down that is a pain to remove the distributor.

Link worked for me to. My 31' coupe had the Otwell on it when dad bought the car for me in 1963. He bought the car across town in Roseville. It was summer and pretty warm out, he drove the car home , the heater blasting hot air into the cab. That heater sure worked good , he said.

Link worked for me, MacBook with Firefox. Author discusses the "Hadees" hot water heater on the last page. I have a Hadees hot water heater in my '31 Town Sedan, but not with the special manifold he discusses. Takes hot water from the upper radiator hose and returns to the lower gooseneck, complete with variable speed fan. He's right, it puts out a ton of heat!

That is a program from my Model A Club from a couple of years ago. He has quite a collection of Model A heaters, as you can see.

Another make was "Flaherty" made by Flaherty Manufacturing Company, Hamilton Ontario Canada. I think it was the style that replaced the manifold.

I have both the Autolite integral and Director Special manifolds. I have only used the Diretor Special and let me tell you, it WILL roast you out of the car-and cook your condenser at the same time.

I have the Otwell straight back curved script unit on mine, no issues with the URL. It puts out a tremendous amount of heat. The door is on the passengers side (wife's) so I frequently find myself opening the window for relief from the excess heat, as she is always too cold. It does however make the car usable many days in the fall where it would otherwise be to cold to drive it.

I have not had any issues with the condenser, probably because I have a modern style type mounted on the breaker plate, with a phony looks to be original shell where it would have originally been installed. It's only downside I have realized is that it blocks access to the distributor mounting bolt, making it necessary to remove the manifold to pull the distributor.

I much prefer the ones that blow the hot air up through the wooden floorboard I would rather cut a hole in my wooden floorboard then cut a hole in the firewall.

If someone with mechanical skills wants to continue producing this one. (post #17) I have a bunch of the castings and hardware that would need cleaning, drilling & tapping and careful assembly. I was having difficulty finding the flex piping in the proper diameter so I gave up. The foundry is in Oregon that does the casting. PM if interested. selling at near costs to the hobby.
