Default 29 Tudor wood kit

Im looking for an affordable wood kit for my 29. I've heard some kits have to be reworked they are so bad and I know you get what you pay for. I'am building a 50's style hot rod from an old body my uncle had on his ranch and needless to say its a rusty rotted hunk of metal but still worth saving. Saw the Ford wood site but pretty high cost for my needs. Any help would be appreciated. Thanx

All the commercial kits are about the same price and fit. Since its a hot rod why not reinforce with tubing?

As the sister site to this one, HAMB is focused on Hot Rods you might get additional ideas there.

The 29 Tudor wood is used mainly to attach upholstery and the top material, and you might try cutting your own wood. I have some pictures of the rear wood. I also have a nice original rear seat cushion wood base for sale.

If you think Fordwoods prices are high, you are in for a rude realization when it comes to "fit vs. $$ spent"! If this helps you some, to professionally cut, fit, and install wood in your Tudor will generally take 80-100 hours to do if you have the proper patterns, machinery, and skills to pull it off.

Don't be scared of doing the wood yourself. I do all my own wood, and it is about ten times easier than any steel work.

My son and I are doing the belt wood from the side widow across the back to the other side window and the rear window frame. We have factory drawings for those parts and need to glue up boards to get close to proper thickness, then we need to rent a planer to get the get it just right. I have a small band saw for the curved cuts. I will have to get a router for some parts. Almost forgot the local lumber yards don't carry maple so it had to be ordered and shipped. Yea a lot of time but the wait time for individual pieces from the vendors is in months, many months.

80 to 100 hours is not way out there for sedans. Tudor a little less. We are lucky that the parts we need are not that complex.
