Default Nice cool Saturday morning

Got my 5.5 head back from the machine shop last night, .008 to flatten the surface, spray bomb engine green. Wa lah, nice new head and rebuilt pop-out. Three heat cycles later for re-torqueing and I'm impressed at the power increase and the drivability. Best power seems to be just short of halfway down on the advance lever. Before the sweet spot was at 3/4 down. The pop-out was refurbished by Dick Crabtree, looks and works great. The head was "twisted" and needed the clean up cut, I used a "Best" brand 573 copper "B" style head gasket from Snyder's. Couldn't resist sharin'

It was a good Model A day in the northeast today. I had my av8 out but did not take any pics. Thanks for sharing.

Nice work, any knowledge on how these high compression heads may effect babbitt life?

There are posts about babbit and compression ratio, lots'a ford barn banter, all good reading.

The head was brand new from Snyder, and as stated in other posts about the 5.5 head it was not flat.

The engine seems smoother with a very noticeable boost in performance.
