Default Flathead to A questions.

I'm looking for a distributer that sells motor and trans mounts to put a 59AB into a Model A using the 39 top shift box also the adapter for the clutch and brake pedals that bolt the stock pedals to the 39 box, I've searched this forum and read some good posts, several have said about kits for sale but I have not found anything.
Thanks Aaron

You are describing my first car that I started on when I was 12. Instead of buying kits to accomplish your task, figure it out yourself and make what you need. I can tell you I probably learned more putting that car together and driving it to high school then anything I read or bought. You will need those skills if you continue to fool with these old cars.

If you don't have the Tardell/Bishop book, you should get it.

What he said. I have a 1928 A with a 59A engine, although I have an F150 O/D transmission, but originally had a '36 trans. Don't need no stinkin' kits, just work it out for yourself. It's not rocket science, and you'll teach yourself a lot of very handy new skills. A disc grinder and a stick welder are all you basically need. Used, they are cheap as chips, and there are heaps of instructional vids on welding on youtube. You'll save a bucket load of cash.

I am not sure if you could use Klings kit for a V8,you might call him.He does mostly stock 4 banger Model A's.
House of Fab makes a kit with engine mounts, headers, and rear motor mount to weld in.
That, the Bishop Tardel book and a good welder woild get you started.
There is no way to bolt in a flathead without modification that I know of.
If you want to to it you would learn a lot as mentioned.

Good luck.

The value to referencing Clings kit is to see how they mounted the brake/clutch pedals and wishbone. They may or may not sell these parts separately and they may or may not work with a V8 (ask them, clingsaftermarket.com, (480) 777-1202). The aluminum adapter goes to the Model A 4 cylinder engine and will not work with a V8.

I don't want to reinvent the wheel, I asked about a kit because I don't feel like building my brackets and such,I've been twisting wrenches for a lot of years and this would be my first V8 to A adaption, with so many people out there that have done it I thought it would be easier to get a little schooling from people with knowledge on this instead of making a hundred mistakes.
Thanks Legend,John and Charlie for the tips.

Dave Havlir of House of Fab has a kitvti mount the V8 in a model A chassis- motor mounts, headers to bypass your F-1 steering box, transmission cossmember, and spring perch mounts for an A or T spring, 35-40 rear, orca similar width modern rear .... 804-245-1959, [email protected]. Good luck .....

I talked to both Dave and Clings, both guys very informative and willing to help out with what is needed. Yes Clings will sell seperate pieces, I needed the adapter for the bones, the pedals and the hand brake. I may end up with an F1 box as it sits lower and the exhast will miss it but I may see about working over the left manifold to see if I can clear the stock box.
Thanks

The stock box will not clear unless it's moved. And it's not just the d/s rear header port that's an issue. Depending on where you set the engine, the head itself will interfere. You should get the Bishop Tardell book.
