Default Proper orientation of dash light on Cabriolet

On my 1931 Cabriolet (68B Briggs body) it seems that the dash light mounted under the dash cover is not oriented ideally. The 'L' shaped bracket, when mounted on the center dash bolt, orients the lamp holder and bulb towards the driver side of the dash, which mainly illuminates the key area rather than the tank gauge and ammeter. I recently took it out to see if I could flip it around to the passenger side and I realized that the bracket was home made and a different kind of lamp holder was used (the kind that is mounted above the oval speedo on other years).

What was the original mounting orientation?

Before orientation you have to be concerned with obtaining the proper bracket. Wayne
