Spark plug
In my engine, were 4) Champion "0 Com" spark plugs. When I pulled them to gap them, I found #1 to be very wet wtht fuel. At idle I shorted the plugs out one at a time, and found #1 was not firing. I had a new set of Motorcraft TT10. This made a HUGE difference.
So....I drained all of the fuel, replaced the tank fuel valve, with a pencil filter, replaced the intake manifold (had a 1/2"-13 bolt), installed a freshly rebuilt Zenith 2, it ran okay but not great. Then I changed the plugs, now it's running really good. Has anyone ever seen the Champion 0 com plugs? |

Re: Spark plug
Haven't seen hose, Brian. Vermin has 4, like new, Champion C-16-C's. I think they were discontinued in the '70's. I don't know what plug superseded them.
I read that they were used in some OLD PACKARDS, also. Bill W.

Re: Spark plug
Those Champion O Com plugs have no modern equivalent that would be suitable for an "A". They are too cold for the "A" and are probably comparable in heat range to a Champion W-10. Nowadays we would use a Champion W-18 or your Motorcraft T10 plugs.

Re: Spark plug
Motorcraft T10 plugs are a colder plug. I pulled Motorcraft T10 plugs from my engine with stock original head W18s is what I'm now running.

Re: Spark plug
Brian, hope you don't mind if I jump in here...
I've got 4 used champion w-18s I found under the seat, but 4 AC C77 plugs installed. What is the collective wisdom on the AC plugs? Thanks in advance.

Re: Spark plug
I have one Champion 0 plug. It is seen here with a Champion 1 and a Champion C-1.
I have no idea where they were used. I would think that a Commercial plug would be a hotter plug. They were mostly drvien on short delivery trips. CLICK ON PHOTO TO ENLARGE MIKE (mikeburch) Last edited by FL&WVMIKE; 04-09-2015 at 08:21 PM. |
