They can be found. I think I have a shell and I might even have one headlight. Bert's in Denver might have what you need. Bert's 800-321-1931 Closed Sundays and Mondays.

An AA shell and radiator is thicker, so a car shell will not fit the AA unless you use a car radiator. If you're talking about pickups, like Tom says, they're out there. You can paint stainless, but I'll leave the chemistry of paints to use in that case for Brent to answer.

Painting stainless is no different than painting aluminum. I use the same etching wash etc for aluminum as I do on stainless. Some may disagree, but this works for me and have had no problems in 20+ years.

Like the others have said, there are plenty of commercial shells and headlight buckets out there. Are you working on a 28-29 or 30-31?

I painted my stainless ones. I don't remember if I scuffed them before the DP90 or not. Paint has held up fine.

DP90 is just epoxy primer and scuffing stainless would be necessary.

I'm guessing your engine has been changed. Trucks built before late June were the '29 style which could not have stainless.
