Ed, every indication from the parts book is no. Front bumper shows the same P/N as a 1941 Super Deluxe (11A 17757 B). Rear bumper shows a 21A 17781 B P/N for both. I
think correct for 1942 but a "service" part number for the 1941. Another Ford Barn member with a 1941 and I had multiple conversations about this I think the conclusion was the 1942 rear bumper is 3 inches overall length wider. The 21A prefix indicates something was changed from 1941. Up here right now rechroming is about $1,000 a bumper because of the world situation if they can get the materials!

I believe that the Bumpers on a 1942 Super Deluxe were continued on with the 1946 Fords, so the 1946 Ford Bumpers should be much easier to find. Regarding the 1942 Ford Deluxe models, I believe that they used the carry over 1941 Super Deluxe Bumpers. Please let me know if I am wrong? Mercman <><

I got this reply from Bryan:-

The Deluxe models used a different bumper than the Standard in 1941. You are somewhat correct with the stamping configuration which is similar to the 1941 Super Deluxe but the inside bumper mount holes were stamped further off center for the 1941 application.

Center to center the inside mounting holes are 42" apart because of the wider grille arrangement. In addition in 1942 on the Standard model the two holes for the front bumper mount disappeared.

The Green Bible or the Red Book will clarify these facts for you as the bumper bar numbers confirm the change.

Bryan

Thanks for the correction - Mercman <><

Ed, the 1947-8 bumpers sit an inch lower and the rear splash pan is 3 piece, Safe bet is to find a 1946 and brackets. I think Bob Drake makes the bumpers for the 46. Bumper guards are not reproduced but are on Ebay often.

The valance has to be added into the years. A 1942-46 early 47 valance is different than the 47-48.

Here is a picture of an Australian 1946/1947 Ford V8 Super Deluxe Sedan showing the Bumper.
As you can see, it is the same shape as the Bumper on the 1942 Ford Super Deluxe models.
Note that the Heads of the End Bolts should be Square, not Round as shown.

rich b, parts book shows it as being the front bumper for a 1942 Ford Special. Does it have holes in the middle for bumper guards? I think I'm correct in the Special did not have bumper guards. My 42 Deluxe appears to have never had rear bumper guards although the sales literature states it was supposed to have had them.

IMO not close.Nickel will have a yellowish sheen.Durability not good it will tarnish.Your plater should just dip it in the chrome tank after the nickel tank which is the normal process. Why would it increase the cost by a lot?

Rich B, that part number 21A 17757-B is a front bumper for a 1942 passenger special. Green book. page 691

Okay .. new dilemma ... I got new bumpers ... well .. one rechromed and a driver quality one .. anyway, the bolt holes in the new ones dont match the old ones ... can anyone tell me what i have ??

The new bumpers, the center holes are 19 inches apart .. but the old bumpers, the center holes are 24 apart .... they also look different ... is my old ones for a deluxe and the new for a super deluxe ??

Can i make them work without a LOT of trouble and headache ??

The bumper I had and posted pictures of looked like the painted one in your picture and the center holes were 24" apart.

I guess I would look for a pair of later inner bumper brackets to fit the 19" spacing of the bumper you found.
