I got about 100 miles on my 8ba flat motor. It acts unpredictable. It can idol and temp stays at 185 on a 95 degree day. Drive down the road 2200 rpm stays @185. after about 10 miles same rpm climbs to 195 - 205 and fluctuates. every thing is new and belts are correctly tightened. Ideas?

Bad sending unit.

Mechanical gauge Is that possible? Its an old AC gauge that I had rebuilt

Couple of fairly easy checks would be a handheld IR thermostat or try a different gauge. Might also check if it is both sides or just one while your at it.
