Default Flathead V8

Hello Everyone ! The motor in my 33 was supposed to have been rebuilt 100 miles ago. My question is I have oil showing up on a few plugs that are firing?

Just 100 miles? I’m sure the rings haven’t even begin to get broken in well!

Depends on the type of rings, doesn't it? Old style cast iron rings take a while and chrome is even worse. Modern Moly rings are said to break in almost immediately. I would suggest you go back to the source and see what was installed.

It depends on a lot of things . . . the machine work, the tolerances, the quality of the rings, has the engine been put under load to break them in, etc.. I won't speculate here, but my suggestion is to go run it hard - full accelerations for low speed, multiple times to see if that helps the rings seat. Also, without a leak down test, hard to really know if you have an issue and what it is.

Bored&Stroked has it right. Ride it hard and put it up wet as they say. When done do another check. You got nothing to lose.

Also, if there are any hills or grades in your area, "lug" it up hill. Make it work hard in 3rd gear if posssible. Long ago an old engine builder had me do this with a rebuilt 6 cylinder and that engine used no or little oil and ran forever.
