Crankshaft bung plugs
Hi Guys, I'm ready to have my rotating assembly for my 255 balanced. When I had the crankshaft turned they pulled the plugs out to clean the oil passages. Now, do I want them in for the balancing or wait until its done so any metal particles can be cleaned out. Thinking about how much they weigh one would think you would want them in when balancing the shaft but I don't metal particulate in my bearings either. Thanks for the help, Tim

Re: Crankshaft bung plugs
The plugs should be in when balancing. Take the plugs and weigh them that is the amount that the balance will be off if left out.

Re: Crankshaft bung plugs
When balancing there should be NO plugs in the crank. NO cam drive gear or key also.
Use clay as JWL said. The bob weights should all be within a quarter gram of each other. |
