Help needed with shocks
Greetings all,
I have come across these shocks installed on a 1930 Roadster. Can anyone identify them, and if so, my question is: how does one remove the arm? The reason is that there was quite a lot of fluid that had seeped out over the years, and I suspect there is a seal in there that needs to be replaced. Mike Johannesburg, South Africa |

Re: Help needed with shocks
they look like later 30's Ford shocks with modified arms.

Re: Help needed with shocks
I could be wrong but those look like later shocks. Possibly '37-40?

Re: Help needed with shocks
I'm sorry I don't. You may want to ask over on the "Early V8 (1932-1953)" Forum. I'm sure someone there would be able to give you more info.

Re: Help needed with shocks
Mike,
I think the little square nut is to adjust the up and down friction/resistance and the broken off stub, is to lock the gland in order to stop it leaking. Ian Glass in Rondebosch is a shock specialist, he rebuilt my Model A shocks. Call him on 0834541119

Re: Help needed with shocks
The Dog sez, "Maybe the adjustment goodie can be removed with a custom CROWS' FOOT wrench & that might release the ARM"????

Re: Help needed with shocks
I would Call Steve at Bert's as he knows allot about shocks, as he rebuilds them also. As I would think he would know that answer to what you want to know. If he doesn't witch I'm sure he will. Snyders will if Steve doesn't know the answer but try Steve at Bert's first.
Good luck Reggiedog |
