Key door lock will not lock

I have a 1958 ford ranchero that im restoring. Bought new key locks for doors and new lock pawls. Problem is the key will unlock door but it won't lock it. Any ideas? I don't see anything in manual.

take both parts to a locksmith . they should be able to sort it out

Squirt some WD-40 or lock lubricant into the lock.

You bought new cylinders and keys and new latches? Were they NOS or aftermarket?

Does the key turn the cylinder both ways without being connected to the latch?

Does the latch lock/unlock easily without the actuating rod being connected to the cylinder? Those rods do have an adjustment.

The little fork that ties the lock cylinder to the latch assembly can be installed 180 out and feel OK. Or the fork may not be inserted properly. It will not unlock the door. Getting it in is a little tricky as the longest portion of the "fork" needs to go into a hole in the lock mechanism. Given it is "floppy" getting it inserted will try your patience. They are also right/left parts.
