Default Ford Model T Snowmobile

I have been pouring over photos of Ford Model T Snowmobiles, for the last few days, and I have one question... Most all the photos show the tracks adjusted so tight, that a person cannot or would not be able to open the doors. And, on th eother hand, if the tracks are too loose, they will slip. So, whats the happy medium? Tracks tight enough so they don't slip, but still loose enough so a person can still open the doors? I have seen some, that have had the frames added onto, so as to be able to clear the doors. So what is the best way to do it?

Most snowmobiles I have been involved with have a purpose built body or, less often, a modified stock body. The doors & bottom sills usually need to be cut away since the tracks are not only further forward than normal wheels but many of them are narrowed to run in the ruts left by horse drawn snow vehicles.
The tracks do not need to be overly tight if the original type of tires are used. Coker has now reproduced these.
