Default What shows - bolt head or nut?

I'm reassembling the fenders onto my 1930 Tudor. Which way do the fender-to-running boards bolts face? Do the bolt heads show when looking at the bottoms of the fenders or the nuts?

Bolts heads look better to me, but I seem to recall someone saying the nuts show.

Thanks

Need to better explain my question..do the bolt heads face forward or back? They are most visible looking at the bottom of the rear fender..just want to get it right.

Thanks

Don't know if this is correct or not, but on my 32. I put the bolt heads showing. My thinking is that the road grime/water would be less when installed that way, making things easier if the bolts/fenders had to come off at some point.

I don't remember where I got this, maybe from Pluck, but I believe it was correct. Maybe someone else can confirm it.

Maybe Henry was thinking about airplanes in which common practice is bolt head forward or on top whenever possible. The theory is that they will stay in place if the nut falls off.

Dan's sketch is for 28/29 model A's. I would think 30/31 model A's would be the same, but who knows.

Be your OWN MAN & put them the way you think looks best! WHO really cares how you put them, if someone doesn't like it tell them to "STICK IT IN THEIR NOSE"!!

I kinda have to think that because most people are right-handed, that the carriage bolt would be inserted in such a way that the nut side would be to right-hand side so the guy turning the wrench could do it right-handed. Does that imply that the driver and passenger sides would be different? Did Henry employ righties to work the passenger side, and southpaws to do the driver's side

As for carriage bolts, the square shank under the head needs to be held so when tightening the nut the bolt is held from spinning! Have you tried to loosen a carriage bolt that only spins, a real pain!
