Re: Paint the hubcaps?
Rest ‘O Man, I like your method, I’ll give it a go. 52flthed, The green color on the truck you show is the color that this truck was when it came from the factory. I like it with the red and can see that Blue just would not work with the green (at least in my opinion). As I said above, the truck was painted maroon in the 1970’s when it was just an old beater and nobody cared about keeping it stock. There is some talk of a respray back to the green but I have some doubt that will be done. That said, I like the red with the maroon body color much better than the blue (again, just my opinion). Thanks to you all for sharing, it’s been a huge help!

Re: Paint the hubcaps?
I did mine freehand and on a warm day so the enamel flowed in the letters. Any excess I wiped off with mineral turpentine and the corner of cloth and I have shaky hands when it comes to fine stuff. Not as hard as you think as most of the bordering for the letters is straight lines. I did not need to scuff the letters either, used Dulux enamel in the mini pot and it has been on over 20yrs without flaking.

Re: Paint the hubcaps?
Everest Automotive has a pretty good “Garnet Maroon”, which is the correct red color. It’s a bit different than the rest of my car because the car has faded, but it worked well for hubcaps and the V8 badges. I got a small bottle of paint from them and used the brush in the cap to paint the indented letters in my hubcaps to touch them up. Then I carefully wiped around the outside with a rag with paint thinner. It was a bit finicky, but came out well.
