40 Battery Hold Down
I can't figure out what was the stock (correct) configuration to hold the battery down in my wagon. I have a bracket mounted on the firewall with two bolts but no holes for attaching anything else. New battery tray with no holes for retaining brackets. Most of the hardware I have seen is for 41 and above. How was the original battery bolted down in a '40? Anybody know. I want to keep it as original with no mods. Thanks......

Re: 40 Battery Hold Down
The front bottom of the battery is locked into the front of the tray by a recess. Just the rear of the battery is held down by the bracket. Between the battery and the bracket is a thick rubber pad about the same size as the bracket foot. UNLESS you have a very early 40 then there is a diagonal brace that holds the battery in place.

Re: 40 Battery Hold Down
Thanks for that information. I do have a pad that I ordered from Carpenter. It would help to get the right size battery!
