Dealing with Leonard Nichols [email protected] has been A Ok with me. I have a new speed odometer from him and it needs to be adjusted and he said, send it back any time and he will readjust it.

I also have to send mine back for adjustment. Tested with local radar it is set 10 mph fast at 42 mph. He said to return it. I will but it is a pain to remove it, pack and send and reinstall.

I bought one already rebuilt from a guy in Davenport, Iowa, and it has worked well. Very accurate, and they all aren't! Norm something. He advertises in Model A News.

I would not go by those radar things at all... My town has 2 of them and if its anything but bright and sunny and your in the correct lane it will rear 5+ off every time. Half the time if its rainy you will be going 50mph and it says 38-44mph...

I would invite someone with a GPS or someone with a smart phone to ride along with you and see what it truly is before returning it.

Actually the radar was in a town police car and not a roadside monitor.

Mark in MT on the forum also rebuilds speedometers. AFAIK he bought out one of the businesses that used to do it and now he does work for some of the main vendor(s) out there. I have met him at a regional and national meet, great guy. I have not had him do a speedometer for me but he did machine a steering sector for me with great results. I also bought a rebuilt speedometer from papanik prior to meeting Mark and have had good results from him also.

I bought the Model A portion of Cushman's speedometer business, and have been repairing and restoring them ever since. I offer services from simple repairs and calibrations to complete restorations. Fully restored Stewart Warner units always in stock.
