Default 1928 Phaeton rear sill plates

Has anyone installed repop rear sill plates on a '28-'29 Phaeton, Snyders says "some trimming required" no kidding! LOL! more like blacksmithing abilities required. When I compare them to the originals I'm not sure how or where to start. Anyone have any tips for me?

Did you have originals to start with so you could compare them?

My originals have some light rust on the rear edges, so I bought some replacements on ebay about 17 years ago. I haven't checked them yet for fit. I'm sure what I bought on ebay are reproduction, as the Ford script was less defined as I recall.

Like Dudley mentioned above, I cut, fitted, welded and ground down the rear sill covers for my 29 phaeton. It took a fair amount of work, but they turned out great. They looked exactly like the original when I was finished, less the rust-outs the original sill covers had. If you would like to see how I did it, I have some pictures I took during the process. I would need your email address so I can attach the pictures to an email to you. Send me a email to: [email protected]. I did have the original sill covers that were not usable, but good for patterns.

Are these the rear sill plates (extensions) you are looking for? I have them listed on the swap meet page. They are repairable. $14 + shipping look under frank55a https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=202288&highlight=frank55a

That's them, but I thought they had Ford script in at least one pair. I'll have to check my 28 again.

no, those are the rear extensions, I need the rear sills, they go just ahead of those. I put a "wanted" ad in the Swap Meet section of this site, is that not the right place to put a wanted ad? I think it was removed, I haven't been able to locate it, nor did I get any notice that I had placed it in the wrong section.
