Default 1928 Phaeton Cowl

I need some help...I'm trying to properly position reproduction cowl sides to the firewall, how much body reveal is shown where the body and cowl meet? generally I'm want to know where and how they fit, top even with the gas tank is obvious, not sure about the rest.

Thanks!

A few close up pictures of the cowl sides would be of help, its been a few years since I started the project and can't recall in detail how things go back together now.

Not exactly sure where you are having problems, but here are a couple photos of my 29 Phaeton, which is identical to your 28, and same as 28-9 roadster. The cowl panels are original on this car, so should be correct. They pretty much only go in one way, so it would help if you posted some photos of your "work in progress", so we could see exactly where you are at? mike

The lip for the rear of the hood to rest against was different on the earlier 28's, so as Mike said, pictures of your car would help.

Looks like the panel is flush with the windshield post/door hinge post where its bolted to the body, I'm I seeing that right?

Yes, and fender welting is used between the pillar post and cowl panel, straight over the top of the gas tank and down the other side as far as the splash apron.

Can't seem to post pictures, gave up after 20 mins going to use the original panels, they need some repair on the bottom. The reproduction panels were so badly made it was more work to make them fit properly than it would be to use the original and patch the bottom. I'm finding I keep reverting back to repairing and using the original parts for best fit, I now have a collection of reproduction parts I have very little use for.
