Model A engine stand adapter
I purchased and engine stand adapter from Snyders. How does it mount to the engine? The threads on the adapter are 3/8-16 much smaller than the threaded holes for the pan? I must be getting old..... LOL
Thanks in advance. |

Re: Model A engine stand adapter
My grandson gave me that same mount for Christmas.
It just bolts to the water inlet flange then the thumb screws are tightened against the pan rail. The thumb screws don't actually thread into the pan bolt holes. I have had an engine on it for ~4 monthes and it hasn't fallen off yet!! Mount seems plenty sturdy. You will have to drill holes for the locking pin to match you engine stand. Fits my HF stand nicely. Last edited by Y-Blockhead; 05-31-2017 at 04:43 PM. Reason: Verbage... |

Re: Model A engine stand adapter
The threaded holes on the adapter are for the thumb screws that came with the adapter. They don't actually screw into the pan bolt holes, but rather the unthreaded portion simply go into the pan holes as a locater. The other end of the adapter, where the 4 holes are(only 2 will mate up properly), bolts onto the water inlet. You have to supply your own bolts for that end.
(Y-B types faster than I do!)

The 4 holes in the main plate are so it will fit a model A or model T. Thumb screws are as mentioned above.

Neat that they put a slot in the mount so you can remove the dip stick after you mount the block.

Re: Model A engine stand adapter
This is a Snap-On engine stand with a gear drive to turn the engine 360 degrees. How is a side mount better?

FYI, If you do ever have to replace the thumb screws, Snyder's sells them separately. http://www.snydersantiqueauto.com/thumb-screws. |
