Hey Vic, good to see you're still having fun! Um, why don't we have photos to go with the stories of these blocks and tranny? They loaded on and off with no issues or cuss words needed?

Hi Jeff, I didn't take any photos of the two blocks or the transmission (didn't have the camera with me), and Mike ended up taking everything home with him... Ray had a forklift at his shop so he lifted everything up and deposited them in the back of Mike's pickup... Hopefully we'll be playing in the garage next Saturday and I'll take some photos. Ya think you and your dad will make it to the Moonshine Festival in October?

I put the '51 F-1 to work this morning as we have passed all the final inspections to get the CO for our home (the seemingly never ending project). We moved our matrices and box springs into our bedroom in anticipation of actually living in the house instead of working on it...What a concept!

What a concept! A truck - a nice looking truck - doing useful work. Congrats on getting the CO.

Vic,
Congrats on finally getting your CO. Now, if you are going to be transporting heavy loads like this long distances, you might consider beefing up your suspension. Also, the Barners will be wondering if that single bed is yours. HMMM...

I always thought the word was spelled "M A T T R E S S E S". Maybe my imagination isn't as important as knowledge. DD

John, Coopman & Tinker, Yup... that was a type-o... Guess I was in too much of a hurry to get everything into the house... Imagine that... Coopman, glad to see you are still following my escapades… hope you’re not living vicariously Do stay tuned, as we are going to get back into the garage and start playing with Flatheads again.

I guess there is some clarification needed (or I will be in the "Dog House"), those box springs are for a King Size bed... And, as for long distance hauling... the house is only about 40 feet away from the garage (where we've been living, in the apartment), but it is easier to load the truck up, drive it over to the house and unload, instead of carrying boxes one at a time... My wife is elated that we are finally moving into the house after almost 6 years of construction...

Nut Tech...???

Here's a question, have any of you had success installing a Helicoil in a cage nut (see photo) for a hood hinge (on a '47 Ford) without removing the hood...??? If so... how did ya do it???

Tom, thanks. Now I've got a guest room available...

Gabby, I got rid of the Port-A- Potty a while ago... I had wanted to decorate it with lights last Christmas but my wife didn't like that idea...

I've tried that without success. The cage nut thread wall is only as thick as the base material. You will do better by tapping to the next larger thread size even if it is metric. Paint it to match. No body will know except you.

Congrats on the CO. Good riddance to the green outhouse.

Hi Chuck, I guess I'll end up having to remove the hood from the '47... Not looking forward to trying to realign it... Oh well... Just more fun with Flatheads... I'm kind of missing the Port-A-Potty as it had become somewhat of a fixture in the neighborhood...

Vic - you probably know this but mark everything off w/marker before removing - you'll be that much closer on the re-install.

To your cage nut issue, there are insert nuts you can buy that you can tack weld in by covering everything - check out McMaster and others and you might find a replacement (although not necessarily stock) for your issue. ACE hardware also has this stuff ....
