Default Is this necessary for 12V conversion?

I see where vintage auto garage lists horn and headlight relays for 1936 12V conversions. Are these really necessary? I’ve got resistors in my horns to drop the voltage and the headlights are 12V halogen conversions (it’s going to be a driver). Seems the headlight switch could handle the current since it’s less with 12V than 6V. So do I need to install relays?

Technically you don't. However, it sure takes the load off your headlight switch. I hooked the relay to my dimmer switch.

I think I would because you be runn it through that vintage fuse under the dash .the switch could handle it

When I did the 12 volt conversion on my 47, I installed headlight relays.. Glad I did, no stress, no mess..

LEDs use less current than halogens and can be bought in brighter config's.
