French 1935 Fords
New French 1935 Ford V8 Sedan sent as a gift to Henry Ford by the Ford Dealers of France. Notice that the Doors open completely different to the regular 1935 Ford Fordor Sedans. |

What you have pictured is an Matford Alsace. You can see the regular Matford and associated grill. Matford's also had cabriolet bodies as well as the Alsace line apparently. |

I hate the word "rare" as its oft well over used and misplaced. I this case, I would classify "Extremely" Rare and would bet more the only one than not. Bodied by Vanden Plas more noted for the Bugatti's and much later their work for Jaguar. |

Here is a French ad and a picture from a brochure besides the Matford Alsace above. |

Interestingly, here is an ad showing the "French" 35 Ford line-up and ALL have the subject artillery wheel and cap. |

Lastly, and somewhat repetitive, I believe this to be a body by Janer (phonetically pronounced Yawner). They are very close stylistically to the Dagingham Semi Customs from England and a 36, bodied by Kellner and marketed as a Matford. |

I promise this is the last....Another real interesting set of cars here, and throws a "monkey wrench" into the conversartion. These German Semi Custom's sporting the subject artilaries and cap. SO Maybe not exclusive to France??? |

This to me this unattractive '32 (just my opinion) has been for sale here for eons .I think it around 60K Euros.Typical of the so called restored cars that needs quite a bit to be correct. |

Agree completely, the car suffers immensely for more length. AND sadly not only does it need a lot of missing bits, the money spent on the subsequent restoration isn't going to help the short, stubby styling. Still a very rare specimen though AND I'd take it IF I could afford it!!! Last edited by rockfla; 06-09-2022 at 09:25 AM. |

Re: French 1935 Fords
It nice to see those French Fords. I did see one of them but did not get to talk to the owner. Thank you for showing us and the information on them.

Re: French 1935 Fords
Quite different than the 4 door sedan that I have. I actually like this body style. I would really like their 2 door sedan if it had the suicide doors and roof styling like the one pictured.

Re: French 1935 Fords
Rockfla,
Is the grille laid back a bit on the Cabriolet and the crank handle hole had to be modified to line up with crankshaft dog?. Gary |

Re: French 1935 Fords
I am assuming you are speaking of the maroon & cream colored Alsace? I don't know, it looks as if but it could also be the angle at which the photo was taken, maybe???
