Re: Model A vicky
you might consider what I did years ago. Bought a rear window section from a sedan and welded that in place of the wood framed rear window, the window is just a touch larger than the Victoria window. then cut metal strips to fill in the tact strips and used body cement to hold the strips in.

Re: Model A vicky
anything can be done with a lot of work. it easier if you could a top section from the belt line up. and the upper wood on the inside is different. the gutter on the steel back are welded on and there is no lip to facilitate the top molding.

Re: Model A vicky
It would much easier and cost effective to find a Steel-Back body. The differences between the Leather-Back and Steel-Back bodies are significant:
>Rear window is larger on the Leather-Back; >Interior wood is different; >Sheet metal above the belt line is different. Ironically, it is more common to convert a Steel-Back to a Leather-Back. Out of 518 surviving 190A Victoria Coupes on record, 311 are Leather-Backs, so it may be that Leather-Backs left on the planet outnumber the Steel-Backs.

Re: Model A vicky
Had one come in the shop, the covering was taken off and top sprayed with what looked like bed liner. (It wasn't) It was an ok job but there are a lot of holes for the nails that hold the trim welting around the edges.

Drove mine to C.W. Moss yesterday, about 150 miles round trip. Ran great at about 65-70 on the freeway. It was a hot day but Vicky stayed cool. I said this to make you jealous!

Ftiz, yes. My Vicky has a Rutherford OHV conversion, twin 97's and a T-5 five speed trans, 26% O.D. Speed was confirmed by GPS.
Derek, Not planning on it. Going to Lincoln, NE next week and a long cruize in Nov. Good luck to you on the salt! |
