Default Found in the woods today. Anything worthwhile?

I stopped by a house that I ordered demolished to check on progress. The house was gone and this was left behind in the woods. Any idea what it's off of?

I could probably get it for the asking. He gave me an antique Singer treadle sewing machine that was in the house. I don't have space for it but I'd hate to see it scrapped if it's something that is salvageable.

What is that spiral wrapped cable going into the backing plate?

Those are the brake spring operators.

I will email him tomorrow to see if he's willing to let loose of it.

That's a nice find. Looks like most everything is in decent shape and usable. Wide five drums (if good) are getting harder to find.

I did notice that the ball at the end of the wishbone has some pitting. I'll try to rescue it. I don't need it or have the space but I feel obligated to try to rescue it from the scrappers that are so prevalent here in MI

Hey there. I've just had a buddy contact me saying he thinks he has some wheels close by me. So, if you decide it's not something you want to grab, don't feel bad on my account. Again, thanks for offering to contact him about it.

The cables to the drums makes it a 37 or 38.

The axle is at least a $50. Also makes a good wall hanger or a good candidate for someone that wants to make a ford drop axle.

***I should mention that a lot of times a minor ford windfall like this, that I've had, would be passed on cheaply to club members or people I know that really need it.***
not a self interested promotion, I don't need one. But I am a hoarder at heart.

I would suggest rescuing that front axle assembly. It looks like it should have some good salvageable parts that you or someone could use or sell.

the narrow span between the spring perch boss and king pins also confirms what 37fordpickup identified

I'm set comfortably in life and money isn't something that I'm looking at here. I salvaged a 1900's Singer Treadle sewing machine from this house that would have got thrown into the dumpster. I am restoring it but don't need it. I believe in preservation of our past. If this axle is given to me, it's more important to me that the parts get back on the road than my financial enrichment. I will have expense and effort and I'm happy to do it. Postage and some beer money pretty much covers it. I'll send the owner an email tomorrow and I don't think he'll have a problem with me grabbing it. Found a 1.5 ton ford axle in the woods this summer up north but logistics is a problem with that one so far.
