Rear parking brake lever
So the left rear parking brake lever broke on me when I was crimping in the cable. Can I just either JB Weld it back together or can I have it welded up? Not sure what tensile strength JB has as far as pulling goes.

Re: Rear parking brake lever
As far as I know, all you need to do is lay the cable into the little trough at the bottom of the lever. The spring at the end of the cable holds it in place in the trough. There's no need to crimp. Nor should there be a need to pry apart the tongs of the trough when removing the parking brake cable. Just use a brake adjusting tool to push on that spring to release the tension against the lever and pull the cable out of the trough.
If your spring is gone off the cable, that's a problem. |

Re: Rear parking brake lever
OK, I was just crimping it as that is the way it came from the factory, so I was just putting it back to that way. Well, that is the way I took it off the axle at least. I will get it welded this weekend and finish installing my rear brakes.

Re: Rear parking brake lever
They were 'crimped' above the cable. That is all I was trying to do-nothing to tight just enough to keep the cable in the lever.

Re: Rear parking brake lever
They are designed to use as stamped. The cable will stay in the opening if installed correctly, it is the correct cable and the cable is adjusted correctly.

Re: Rear parking brake lever
100% correct. The cable just lays in the "U" shaped trough and is held in place by the little spring. I never knew one to jump out in my 50 plus years of driving.

Re: Rear parking brake lever
ok, I was just copying what came out so that is the way i though it should go back in. Will try and get it welded up tomorrow and installed.
