heat sending units
my heat gauge was reading hot all the time. I took the wire off the unit on the drivers side an all is good. The unit on the driver side must be shorting out?? Thanks for any info. Jack.

Re: heat sending units
Well, it looks like you've found the problem. I expect you're planning on replacing the drivers side switch; the flathead has what amounts to two cooling systems and you should be able to watch them both.

Re: heat sending units
Don't know about shorted out, it is a normally closed switch (set of points). It is more likely that it developed an open. Might check it over, it might just be a bad connection.
