Re: `32 canadian serial # ?
xix32-
Canadian serial numbers can be difficult to decipher. They are not based on sequential numbering like U.S. production. They are based on engine runs. You are correct the "C" indicates Canada, The '32-'36 models have an "18" next (the "18" was dropped as of '37). The next alpha indicates the engine run. Early '32 had a "D", later '32s used a "BR." Generally, the engine runs were in alpha-sequential order, but not always. Where things really get weird is some engine runs covered two different years. For example some '34s have a "L" in their serial and so do some '35s. In fact, it is possible to have the same serial number used in two different model years! To the best of my knowledge the actual dates of a particular engine run is not readily available and may be lost to antiquity . It took some digging but in the case of my Canadian-built '35 the serial number starts as "C18U". The "U" was a May-late June engine run. That's is all I could find out. Hope this helps. Tom |
