New Zenith Carburetor model #13922
I just found out that the replacement carb that I puruchased from Automotive test systems in Pt. Townsend Washington is manufactured by Zenith in Bristol Va. The engineering changes were designed by Zenith.
Question; Would this carb still be considered something close to an acceptable replacement since it is made by Zenith?

Apparently not. I've never understood why not, but it seems to draw a lot more disparagement than the Tillotsons and Marvel-Scheblers. Maybe it has to do with the date of first manufacture.

That's up to your preferences. It certainly will be docked points in judging as it is not accepted as original equipment, but is a modern replacement. If it runs well and you like it that's all that matters.

If memory serves it seems like that is the model # that some folks have had good luck with. I think I would try and make an original style throttle shaft and arm work though.

That carburetor has an engineering drawing from Zenith that is titled "Replacement -Model A".
Many will tell you that a well-rebuilt old Zenith will work just fine, and they are totally correct. But many will also tell you that getting an old Zenith properly rebuilt is difficult (well, taking Bert's out of the equation! ). But getting one of the modern Zeniths to work is a no-brainer. |

I have used one and like it on my daily driver '29 Tudor.GAV will not
hook up as the thumb screw is on the foreward side of the carb but, the choke rod hooks up as origionally. If you're not concerned about a"looks origional" carb this one works very well. 73 BP |

I wanted to say that this new carburetor is the Zenith 68 series. The instructions listed above is for the 67 and 267 series carburetor and is not quite correct.
The correct instructions for the new replacement carb can be found here.

Another slightly different set of instructions.
