Default engine breathing tube?

1950 flat 8 ford P/U
There is a 1.25 in tube down about 8 inches from the bottom(driver side) of the engine...no cap, just flows small smoke out....
Since this is right under my clutch/brake pedals, I want to fit a longer tube out the back or to the side..
Is there a cap or is a tube out the back OK.....
I do not want to allow the smoke to back up and damage something....

Add a tube to bring it back to where it suits you. So long as it vents.
Adding a PCV system is the next best thing.

There were two kinds of draft tubes, one that goes straight down, and one that ends about mid-way back on the engine. Is yours even further back than that?

This is the straight-down type.

Its fairly straight down and then it has maybe a 2/3 degree bend toward the back...I think to push the flow to the back.....I went to Home depot and bought a fitting with a 90 degree and put a black 2" pVC...works great...
I want to thank you for your help on this...

Now I am going to work on the Heat guages....I was reading some good stuff in one of the postings...Printed and scheduling my work...I love my P/U....

Like most of us you will be tinkering and personalizing your truck for many years. My family refers to my truck as the "forever project". Enjoy the adventure.
